HISTORY,
BACKGROUND & USES:
Discovered in 1839 by Carl Gustaf Mosander. Lanthanum is ductile, malleable, silvery-white metal in the
lanthanide series. Lanthanum has three allotropic forms. At -268
°C it becomes a superconductor.
