HISTORY,
BACKGROUND & USES:
Discovered in 1557 by Julius Caesar Scaliger. Platinum is very heavy and very precious. It has a silvery-white
color. It's soft and ductile and has good resistance to corrosion
and chemical attack. It is used as crucibles, electrodes, and
dishes in the lab for heating up materials. It also makes for
a good catalyst.
