Product Description
Bismuth is a greyish-white powder with a reddish tinge and bright metallic luster. It is soft and brittle; superficially oxidized by air frequently becoming iridescent. Its reistance increases when placed in a magnetic field, and is soluble in nitric and hydrocholoric acids. Bismuth is often used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, low melting alloys; it can improve machinability of steels and other metals and be used to coat selenium. It also sees use in thermoelectic materials, pemranent magnets and semiconductors.
